Rive Gauche - Bring Home the Bacon

With the dreaded Foehn meant to be hitting town yesterday we decided to avoid any dangling daggers of ice and head for some mixed. Nick Bullock has been busy developing the rive gauche of the Argentiere glacier with, mainly, Pete Benson. Having sourced out the best line there from Nick we headed over for Bring Home the Bacon which proved to be an excellent mixed routes. Both main pitches are long and engaging. the first hard pitch is really pleasant climbing and a real gem of a lead. The second pitch is a little harder and takes you up to an overhang- to get round this you place some bomber gear before doing a pretty interesting traverse to the far side. The further you go the worse the feet and hooks get. More info here
