Aiguille du Midi - Dame de Lac

Headed up with Jon Bracey and Matt Helliker to get some shots of them on the Dame du Lac on the South Face of the Midi. Conditions up high are still very very snowy- in fact it all looks like pretty amazing spring conditions. But it is getting pretty warm so anything mixed or ice should be climbed during the night. Having said that there are deep tracks up low snowy climbs such as the Mallory and the Eugster so they are obviously seeing alot of ascents.

The rock is clearing nicely up high as well and the bonus of all this snow is that access to high mountain rock routes is ok for the moment (ie shrunds and crevasses are passable).

The weather is set to stay pretty nice for quite a while so I would have thought that real summer conditions will start to kick in in the next week or so. The Leschaux warden is still reporting amazing looking conditions on the Grandes Jorasses but it’s not going to last for long with this heat.
